Guided Tours

Proximity to the sea has provided the City of Gothenburg with its unique characteristics. It has an exciting history, an impressive cultural life and offers a fantastic countryside in the immediate neighbourhood.

We offer tailor-made guided tours in Gothenburg and its surroundings by bus, boat or on foot.

Examples of City Tours could be:

Klippan

Klippan, which is situated on the southern river bank, very close to the southern abutment of the Älvsborg Bridge, has a history from the early Middle Ages. Here we can find the remains of Gothenburg`s oldest fortress, the Älvsborg Castle. The Swedish East India Company made its mark in the area during the 18th century. The restaurant ”Sjömagasinet” was, for example, one of the company’s buildings. From Klippan their ships sailed to China, India and other exotic countries.
David Carnegie, an immigrant Scotsman, and his porter brewery and sugar refinery dominated this area during the 19th century. Today, the four-star hotel, Quality Hotel Waterfront, is located in the building that once housed the old porter brewery.

Haga

They started building Haga as early as in the 17th century, and it became the first ”suburb” of Gothenburg. Haga is today a very picturesque part of the city, and here you can find several cosy cafés, restaurants and antique shops. You can also see some of the ”Governor`s Houses”, so typical of Gothenburg. The fortlet ”Skansen Kronan” from the 1690s is Haga`s oldest preserved building and well worth a visit on the ”Skansberget” hill.
A magnificent vantage point!

Vasastaden

This part of the city is located in central Gothenburg. After a city building competition they started to construct Vasastaden in 1867. Kungsportsavenyn (King`s Gate Avenue) was developed with the boulevards of Paris as models. There was very intensive building activity in ”Stenstaden” (Stone city) up until 1914. Moreover, more than 200 Linden trees were planted along the new Vasagatan (Vasa Street).

The Event Area

… or why not our famous "Event Area" with, for example, Liseberg, the Universeum Science Museum, the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Center (Svenska Mässan), and our big sports arenas, Ullevi and Scandinavium. Many world famous pop, rock, opera, musical and not least sports stars, for example Gothenburg`s own Heavy weight Champion of the World, Ingemar Johansson, have done unforgettable performance in these arenas.
