Do you want to visit a genuine and unexploited area of Italy? If so, travel with us to Portico di Romagna. Portico lies in the Emilia-Romagna region close to Toscana. This picturesque village lies in the foothills of the Appenines. Portico is the main village in the "Portico e San Benedetto" community. We will stay at the family hotel “Al Vecchio Convento”, where father Giovanni, mother Marisa and sons Massi and Matteo, with their Danish wifes, Ulla and Camilla, will take care of us. Father and sons are all chefs and they will reveal some secrets behind their food preparation.
We shall fly to Bologna and then transfer via bus approx. 1 hour and 45 minutes to Portico and settle into the hotel.
A welcome dinner in the restaurant at “Al Vecchio Convento” then awaits us.
Within the price, day trips to Bologna and Ravenna are included. We are going to visit a vineyard, where of course we shall have the opportunity to sample the produce! We shall explore the picturesque village of Portico and the area nearby. We will take the opportunity to visit the farm (agriturismo) "Montanara". This includes a visit to their cheese production and an enjoyable lunch consisting of Montanara's own produced food.
There are also possibilities for those of you who want, to explore the locality on your own. Nature around Portico offers all that ramblers could wish.
Those of you who wish can register to an Italian language course during three of the mornings (an extra cost). "Scuola Verde l'Olmo" offers customized tuition, no matter your language ability. The school offers professional tutors with many years of experience of teaching Italian to foreigners.
